Most equipment lessors approach dealer relationships backwards. They lead with what they do—rates, terms, approval speed—when dealers actually care about what they enable.
A manufacturer’s regional sales manager told us something last month that explains why most lessor-dealer relationships produce sporadic flow instead of systematic pipeline: “I’ve got four lessors calling me monthly. They all say the same thing—competitive rates, fast turnarounds, great service. I can’t tell them apart. The one guy I actually send business to? He helps my dealers close sales they’d otherwise lose. That’s worth something.”
